Tiers

Who does what at each tier

Each tier adds a person with a defined role and responsibility; the case, the audit trail and the report stay the same.

Automated screening

Automated screening

  • Who does it

The engine: versioned rules written with lawyers, expert modules and a verification layer. No person reviews the output.

    Full text

The engine. Versioned decision rules written with lawyers, domain-expert modules and a verification layer that checks every statement against its source. No person reviews the output at this tier.

  • What you receive

A verdict per substance and claim, with legal basis, version and effective date. PDF and Excel.

    Full text

A report with a verdict per substance and per claim: prohibited, restricted, permitted or needs further analysis. Every verdict carries its legal basis, regulation version and effective date. Export to PDF and Excel.

  • Is this legal advice? No — compliance support

    Full text

No. Automated screening is a compliance-support tool. It is not legal advice and it does not create a client relationship with any law firm. Use it to prepare, prioritise and document; decisions on your product remain yours.

Expert-reviewed assessment

  • Who does it

A regulatory specialist or a lawyer from our partner law firm reviews every flagged item.

    Full text

A regulatory specialist or a lawyer from our partner law firm reviews every item the engine flagged or marked "needs further analysis", and reads the full report. The reviewer may ask you for documents, for example a supplier specification. [FOUNDER INPUT: tier 2 provider (#6)]

  • What you receive

The reviewed report: each reviewed item with the reviewer's note, name, role and date.

    Full text

The reviewed report. Each reviewed item carries the reviewer's note, the reviewer's name and role, and the date. Verdicts the reviewer confirms are marked as reviewed; verdicts the reviewer changes show the old and the new value.

  • Is this legal advice?Depends on the reviewer

    Full text

That depends on who reviews, and the report always states it. When the review is performed by a lawyer from our partner law firm, it is a legal service of that firm to you, under its engagement terms. When the review is performed by a Complify AI regulatory specialist, it is expert compliance support and not legal advice. [FOUNDER INPUT: keep both sentences, or delete the one that does not apply (#6)]

When you accept it, the affected verdicts are updated and the opinion stays linked to them.

  • Is this legal advice?Yes — legal service

    Full text

Yes. The opinion is a legal service provided by Havel & Partners to you as its client, under the firm's engagement terms and its professional responsibility. Complify AI does not write, co-sign or guarantee the opinion.

Partner law firm

The role of Havel & Partners

Havel & Partners is Complify AI's partner law firm. Its lawyers co-author and validate the decision logic the engine applies, which is why we describe that logic as lawyer-encoded and lawyer-validated.

Where a case needs a formal legal opinion, you will be able to instruct the firm directly from the platform once this tier launches; the opinion is issued under the firm's professional responsibility.

To our knowledge no tool combines lawyer-encoded national decision logic, domain-expert reasoning over substance identity and statement-level provenance with a formal legal opinion from a Tier-1 law firm in the same workflow.

  • RelationshipPartner law firm of Complify AI s.r.o. [FOUNDER INPUT: add "and shareholder" once the SHA is executed and visible in the register (#20)]

  • Firm[FOUNDER INPUT: H&P-approved one-line description; "the largest law firm in Central Europe" only if the firm confirms and names the source (#4)]

  • On the platformCo-authors and validates the decision rules; will issue formal legal opinions on escalated cases once that tier launches. [FOUNDER INPUT: and performs expert review, if tier 2 is H&P (#6)]

  • MarketsCzech Republic and Slovakia. Other markets: [FOUNDER INPUT: confirm wording for other markets (#4)]

  • Ownership of the rulesThe knowledge base and decision rules are owned by Complify AI.

  • IndependenceThe firm acts for you as its client and is independent in its opinion; Complify AI transmits the case and the audit trail and does not influence the conclusion.

  • Your dataYour product data reaches the law firm only when you request an opinion or a lawyer's review on a specific case.

Escalation

How a case is escalated

Escalation happens inside the case. Nothing is re-typed, and the report, the audit trail and the question travel together.

  1. Step 1: Engine verdict

Prohibited, restricted, permitted or needs further analysis — with legal basis, version and effective date.

  2. Step 2: Item flagged

Needs further analysis, or a verdict you want checked. The engine states why.

  3. Step 3: You request a review

Write your question; the audit trail is attached automatically (trace ID, steps, sources).

  4. Step 4: Tier 2 · expert review

A regulatory specialist or a lawyer from our partner law firm reviews the flagged items and the report, and may ask for documents.

  5. Coming soon

Step 5: Tier 3 · instruct the firm

Once this tier launches: Havel & Partners takes the case under its engagement terms and may ask follow-up questions.

  6. Step 6: Returned to the case

Reviewed report with notes (tier 2) or signed legal opinion with conditions (tier 3), as a PDF with a qualified electronic signature at tier 3.

  7. Step 7: You accept; verdicts update

Affected verdicts change only when you accept. The document stays linked to each verdict.

  8. Step 8: Monitoring continues

Registered products are re-checked when the rules change (monitoring, in beta).

You choose when to escalate and which tier to use. Once tier 3 launches, the instruction goes from you to the law firm; Complify AI transmits it together with the audit trail.

[FOUNDER INPUT: turnaround for expert review and legal opinion, e.g. "within N business days" (#18)]

FAQ

Questions a regulatory team asks

Is this legal advice?

It depends on the tier, and every document states which tier produced it.

Automated screening: no. It is a compliance-support tool, not legal advice, and creates no client relationship with a law firm. You may share the report with anyone, including authorities, as your own working document.

Expert-reviewed assessment: when the review is performed by a lawyer from our partner law firm, it is a legal service of that firm under its engagement terms. When it is performed by a Complify AI regulatory specialist, it is expert compliance support and not legal advice. [FOUNDER INPUT: keep applicable variant (#6)]

Formal legal opinion: yes. It is a legal service of Havel & Partners to you as its client, under the firm's engagement terms and professional responsibility. Complify AI does not write, co-sign or guarantee it.

Who is responsible for what?

Complify AI is responsible for the platform, the rule set and the screening report under the platform terms. A formal legal opinion is the responsibility of Havel & Partners under Czech law and its engagement terms: Czech advocates and law firms are liable to their clients for harm caused in connection with their practice and must by law carry professional-indemnity insurance (Advocacy Act, §§ 24–24b).

The decision to place a product on the market remains yours as the food business operator. [FOUNDER INPUT: counsel to confirm (#28)]

Which markets does the partner law firm cover?

Havel & Partners issues opinions for the Czech Republic and Slovakia. For other markets: [FOUNDER INPUT: confirm wording for other markets (#4)].

The automated screening covers the markets listed on the product page; a market being screened does not mean a legal opinion is available for it.

Can we use our own counsel?

Yes. Every report and its audit trail can be exported and handed to any adviser you choose, and law firms and consultants can use the platform themselves. Nothing on the platform depends on instructing our partner law firm; the choice of lawyer is yours.

How current are the rules?

Every verdict names the regulation version and the date on which it applies, so you can see what a report was checked against. Rules are versioned; when a rule changes, the new version is recorded and registered products are re-checked (monitoring, in beta). A review or opinion reflects the law on the date stated in the document. [FOUNDER INPUT: state an update commitment after a legislative change, or leave unstated (#29)]

What happens to our data when we escalate?

Your product data stays in the platform. The law firm receives the case, your question and the audit trail only when you request a lawyer's review or an opinion, and handles it under its statutory duty of confidentiality. Details are in our privacy notice.
